Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
I really haven’t been keeping up with these film entries.. Oh well.
I liked how they were nice and picked Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Obviously to stress how inner beauty is above the physical. Or whatever..
She still ruined the whole thing with her monotone voice and one-expression-for-ALL-the-emotions. You know the one where she kinda raises her upper lip and stares at something while looking like she can smell poo everywhere.
Chris Hems was adorable but there wast much of him in it.
I absolutely loved Charlize Theron though. I was really rooting for her evil queen and really hoped she would be able to suck the life out of the whiny and annoying Snow White. Alas, it didn’t happen of course… Still, she was gorgeous and her costumes and visuals were mind blowing. Stole the show completely.
Otherwise it was dull and boring. I wasn’t tired at all when we started it, but by the fifth reel, I couldn’t sit in my chair comfortably and just wanted to leave. Felt so exhausted coming out from the screen..
Three prints of this?! Why?? Makes no sense.
Edit: Mirror Mirror and Once Upon A Time TV series were both way superior to this.
Shame (2011)
As attractive as both M. Fassbender and C. Mulligan are, I ended up not liking this one. Yes, it looked all pretty and yes, had loads of shock value but all in all I just didn’t find it interesting. This “open ending” or “interpret it as you wish” thing really isn’t my cup of tea I guess. Loads of people talking about it but the film itself doesn’t have much to say, Bhh…
Battleship (2012)
Ugghhhh soooo retarded… Like ridiculously retarded.
I liked Peter Berg from Chicago Hope when I was watching it years ago. He was one of my first celebrity crushes I think xD but this film… Boooo.. I liked how Peter MacNicol was in it (and Alan Arkin from CH was in SoA) and how PB was in one of the episodes of Californication with this film… BUT. Californication sucked pretty bad. Still not as bad as this piece of crap. Lol at the Titanic scene running up their sinking ship.. I don’t even know what to say, it was so bad..
John Carter (2012)
Seems I didn’t even write about this, or did I? Anyway it was poo because of ALL the reasons and I can’t be bothered to type anything else..
Haha and I was really glad when it did do well.
Act of Valour (2012)
I was expecting something very boring but that’s not the case at all. This is really good.
Lol jk this is poopier than a thousand poops. Omg lol real navy SEALs was the worst idea ever xD
I can’t believe I’m watching this in the cinema and not on the channel movies4men xD
What is this?! This is not a real film? It might look like one but it really isn’t Hahahha. It’s so bad it’s making me laugh. Absurd.
The directors just finished film school and are trying to put ALL the gimmicks and cliches they learnt about into this?
Plus I can’t remember watching anything so homoerotic omg lol
WHATISTHISWHATWHATWHAT
O M G THE ACTING!!!!!!!111oneone11
The Devil Inside (2012)
Pros: it was only 5 reels.
Cons: ridiculously pointless waste of time. There was nothing new or original about it, it had absolutely nothing to say. The only idea the makers must have had was “Lets make an exorcism movie!… With.. The “found footage” and “documentary” angle because well you know.. That shit’s hot right now!!”…… Ughhhh no. Just no.
Plus it failed as a horror film because all the characters were complete loonies. Couldn’t take it seriously. And it’s not that “I don’t believe in god” thing, Omen films scared me shitless and they probably still do, it’s just that this one was really retarded. (why did I even care to explain this??..)
No no no. Eww. Stupid film.
Bel Ami (2012)
Didn’t like it. Perhaps I didn’t understand it? Still, didn’t like it at all.
I didn’t really care about RPatz (or whatever his cool street name is), funnily enough he doesn’t annoy that much.. But the film just didn’t make any sense. I didn’t understand the characters, one minute they’re (each one of the main ones) cold and calculate their every move carefully, the next second they are jealous and upset and in love and have ALL the emotions.. I didn’t see why any of them acted the way they did and what the real story was.
Hah there were about 10 people in the screen of 400 seats heh. Poor poor film..
Did drool a lot over Uma Thurman though.
John Carter 3D (2012)
Haha Disney was so nervous about its UK release. And I completely understand why. Because a) people don’t know the character here and b) it’s actually a really crappy film :D
O dear it seemed to be at least 7 years long and as interesting as drying paint. I didn’t like any of the characters nor the actors portraying them, didn’t care about any of the storyline and found the whole thing rather sexist and racist (well yea the original story’s 100 years old so I guess they couldn’t have done anything..). The only thing I did like was the crazy adorable mutant dog. The 3D wasn’t great either and Bhh.. It was oh so painful to watch, I was seriously contemplating walking out but I never really do that. Plus we had too much work to do upstairs heh. Fucking Prince of Persia of 2012.. Rubbish, so rubbish..
The Raven (2012)
So at first I was like “yea lets do this! I found E. A. Poe interesting when we were studying him at school!”
But then we started to watch it.
Things get serious when Poe’s love interest gets kidnapped by the killer. How? From the freaking middle of a ballroom, while holding hands with Poe, amongst 200 other people. … Wait what? Did they cut out an integral scene from there somewhere? Or was it just really badly written? Or what? Did I misunderstand? How did that happen?
And there are so many other ridiculous scenes throughout the film. Poe sitting on a horse, looking down at the inspector, inspector telling him “Go! Follow the killer!” and Poe is like oh yea, right! Or when Poe is walking miserably in the woods, the “fat father-in-law” (who actually despises Poe and vice versa) catches him up on a horse, dismounts, they chitchat and walk for a bit and then Poe goes “I have to write my final story!”, takes the fat man’s horse and rides off. What? People do that? Is that normal?
And the dialogue was horrible. Poe’s lines sounded forced and the other characters spoke like morons.
I think the kidnapping scene just threw me off from the whole thing and I couldn’t take it seriously after that.
Now I find out that the director previously made V for Vendetta.. What is this wizardry? From up there to down here? Ninja Assassin was cool to watch but I don’t remember anything great about it besides the fight scenes. O dear..
The only thing I absolutely loved about The Raven was Poe’s pet racoon. Haha he was absolutely adorable!
A film about Poe’s real life would have been way more fascinating..
Warrior (2011)
Ughhhh.. I don’t want to talk about this because I really really really disliked it..
Why did everyone praise this so much? What the heck?
2 hours 20 minutes of cliches and boredom. Ahhhh.. I’m sorry this was completely not my film. The Fighter was popular and now they made another.. But this time with.. 2 underdogs!.. Who are brothers!.. Who are estranged!.. But will fight each other in the end and then find the way back to each other’s hearts!.. And you have the freaking training montages.. And when they beat the other boxers on their way to the final match..
Call me a pot smoking hippie girly pants who doesn’t know anything but I really really really can’t find anything appealing or heroic about boxing or whatever the sport was there.
No, no thanks, not for me.
Project X (2012)
*spoilers maybe?*
Does what it says on the tin. Exactly that. You will be the most popular guy in school if you throw a kick-ass party with alcohol, drugs and tits. And popularity is the most important thing in any teenager’s life.
I was waiting for a hmm.. Not a morale to the story but something.. I dunno.. Something more than that? Some consequences? Perhaps? You can’t just steal a drug dealer’s stash of pills and get away with it whilst getting high on said pills and having the time of your life. Or can you?
It was fun and funny and all that but nothing more.
It was nice and short and an 18 heh. And this documentary-handheld-camera style is the big thing right now I guess, so they have to keep milking it.
The Woman in Black (2012)
Haha, sorry Daniel Radcliffe, but you can’t play a dad. You look silly. Stop it, Daniel Radcliffe. Also I think you must be one of the most talentless actors I’ve ever come across. I really can’t look at you without cringing. You make every scene you’re in really painful to watch.
On top of that, the film was boring, I fell asleep for about 15 minutes at the most “intense” part of it. Bhhh.. Lots of jumpy bits but no real substance.
The Skin I Live In (2011)
I’m way behind writing about this.. Watched it about two weeks ago.
*spoilers?*
Wasn’t a fan. No, not at all. Artsy-fartsy boredom. I mean there were interesting themes in there: constructing more resilient artificial skin and what that can lead to, human experimentation, kidnapping with the Stockholm syndrome thing, sex change, dealing with personal tragedies etc but it was all way too much. I didn’t see any clever points being made about any of these ideas. It was all just dull and uninteresting.
And so you can’t actually trust the man you kidnapped for almost-raping your daughter; who you turned into a woman during several years of imprisonment; who you used as a human guinea pig for your crazy ass science-y things; and who was just raped by some dude dressed in a tiger suit? *shockhorror* O yea? Are you retarded? Pffff.. Stupid.
Safe House (2012)
Extraordinarily average. Heh, yea.. I wasn’t disappointed cuz I didn’t expect much which I ok.
Denzel Washington was great, especially when you realise he’s 57. Kinda like the Tom Cruise thing.. And he’s doing his stunts and all the crazy shit. Yea, well done, man!
The rest of it was just dull. I mean ooh yea, what a great twist to put Oooh! The bad guy amongst the good guys! (hardly a spoiler..).. Not actually that brilliant and original of an idea, eh? I dunno.. It was 7 reels long as well so I really wanted it to end.
This Means War (2012)
We watched it on the 13th actually but I completely forgot about it. Well it just wasn’t that memorable I guess.. Not out till the 2nd March but we had to milk the valentine’s day audience obviously..
The film was very Bhh.. Don’t know.. Not so much boring as uninteresting. Had maybe 2 funny jokes in it, the rest were just rom-com clichés. I dislike Reese Whitherspoon, Christ Pine and Tom Hardy were ok but Chelsea Handler was cool.
