21 Jump Street (2012)
I wasn’t interested at all and I really hate Jonah Hill’s face (probably have mentioned it before) but oh my was this awesome! From the very beginning with the Eminem music till the crazy-ass credits. And Jonah Hill didn’t actually bother me so much, he was in fact funny. The film itself was hilarious, so ironic and sarcastic, so clever and quick-witted. Johnny’s cameo couldn’t have been done better, so yea JH, respect for the writing and all that jazz.
This was like the best thing since Superbad and that came out aaaaages ago. Definitely a source of out-of-the-cinema jokes.
A Better Life (2011)
Oh no it broke my heart within the first 5 minutes and after that it just kept breaking it into smaller and smaller pieces! Such a beautiful and sad film! Also the sweetest and most heart warming film. All the actors played so well, especially Demian Bichir. Get ALL the emotions watching this film! Feel like dying in the final scene between the father and son but then the ending was so full of hope and sunny and happy.
Loved it oh so much!
Chronicle (2012)
SO FREAKING GENIUS FILM I DON’T EVEN KNOW!!
Ok yea so. I didn’t expect much from the trailer but my god, did this blow me away. It was so fresh and novel, even though there are countless superhero films and films that are shown from the characters’ point of view. (I dunno spoilers might follow? Maybe? Not really?)
In this one three regular guys happen to gain superpowers (telekinesis) from some strange blue glow-y thingie in a hole underground. One is the popular dude, one’s just a good guy, one’s the loser outcast. And then they start to discover their powers, first by moving Lego pieces and baseballs, but getting stronger and stronger. And then they start to realise what it is that they can actually use those powers for, mostly for simply messing about and being teenage boys, but slowly more dangerous urges start creeping in for one of them. Not that it’s his fault really, nor his friends’ but it just happens. And then you end up with a hero and a villain both yielding ridiculous powers that leave no room for regular people around them.
The effects! The acting! The camera work! The storyline and the dialogue! It was so brilliant! In every way possible! How the loser dude was humiliated at the party, how his cousin was awkwardly flirting with his crush, how the popular guy was genuinely trying to help the outcast one - it was so believable and cleverly filmed.
And then they were playing around in the clouds!! Such a well-made brilliant and original film!
(ok definite spoilers now!)
I’m so happy the good won the bad in the end. I’m not usually keen on cliché endings but I’m so glad for this one.
Such an amazing experience Wowowow !!.. Hope loads of people will come and watch this rather than Jack and Jill.
I’m trying to ignore stupid Alcatraz on tv to not spoil my evening now hehe
Homeland (2011 TV series)
Oh my god! My second favourite series this season since American Horror Story!
After the first ep we thought that Oooh they shouldn’t have given away that much, but actually every single episode just keeps making everything more and more intriguing! We still have 4 to go, but working tomorrow open/mid, so shouldn’t really watch them tonight..
Claire Danes is awesome and so is the rest of the cast. The story is so well written it’s ridiculous. Recommend it a million times.
